Should parents be negligent in 2009 if they decided not to have their child immunized against the measles?

No, there is nothing wrong with declining a vaccination. My sister gets her kids titer tested…where they run a blood test to see if the child already has high levels of antibodies that provide immunity to the virus they are vaccinating for. Turns out her kids are all strong and have healthy immune systems. They have not needed any vaccines to attend school. She gives a copy of the test to the school, so they know IF the kids came in contact with that virus, their immune system’s antibodies will take care of it.

These days, with the ingredients in vaccines, and the horrific reactions, more parents are deciding not to vaccinate.

Nope, some people don’t immunize because of religious or personal reasons, that isn’t considered negligence though.

Personally I believe in vaccinations. But I don’t think it would be considered negligent. Your daycare/school might have issues with it though.

It’s not negligence unless the child has a weakened immune system. The main problem america is facing due to not vaccinating is in the near future the conditions that we have virtually elliminated will begin to pop up again and again until a new vaccination wil need to be created to get it under control.

Childhood bugs are nasty ass little buggers, and vaccinations help kids remain healthy. Things like this, keep the buggers from spreading like wild fire. I’m not sure if they are criminally negligent, but I believe they are negligent, as parents for not doing a simple thing to protect their kids.

I don’t think it’s negligence but I definitely believe in vaccinating.Even people who choose not to vaccinate have to admit that they are counting on the fact that other children around them have either been vaccinated or are extremely healthy. It’s like "I don’t have to do my part as long as everyone else does…" Yeah.. most diseases that we vaccinate against have ceased to exist BECAUSE of vaccinations. The more people that choose not to vaccinate.. the more we will begin to see children dying from things that are easy to prevent. And though it may be "cool" to not vaccinate now.. it isn’t going to be cool when you have severely limited your child’s career choices. They may be able to go to daycare or school with special "permission".. but it doesn’t matter what your reason is.. You CAN’T go to nursing school, physical therapy school, PA school, med school or vet school without your vaccinations. They don’t care if it’s for ethical or religious purposes.. they don’t want someone that could get sick or that could potentially have a disease working in hospitals with people who have compromised immune systems. Have any of you even thought of that before making this decision for your child..? You child is more likely to want to go to some sort of professional/medical school than he/she is to have a reaction to a vaccine. WAY more likely. Anyway.. I will shut up!
