My wife (aged 57) has never had ANY childhood illnesses – measles chickenpox or anything?
Is this great or bad? My father had chickenpx during 45 years of age as well as was really ill.

I’ve never had any childhood illnesses either- not even chicken pox. Chicken pox can be worse in adulthood but not always, if she wants, she can hav the chicken pox vaccine. It is available in the UK.
She’d first have to have a blood test to confirm her Ig status and if she hasn’t antibodies then she can have the vaccine. Some people actually have chicken pox without the usual symptoms and thus don’t realise they have had it.
Getting childhood diseases later in life can be life threatening.
childhood illnesses can be more problematic as you get older but then she may have been exposed to the illnesses but not developed the symptoms perhaps
If she gets any of these things now in life she is in danger at her age. It can be life threating!
Are you sure she didn’t? Maybe she did, and was to young to remember… But having it later on life, is obviously as others correctly said more problematic.
well it happens. The problem is, if she gets Measles now, they are so incredibly painful and debilitating. She might have a specific tolerance to the diseases, which is good. Obviously getting one now would be bad. Honestly, it sounds terribly, but it is completely a good idea to have your child get chicken pox when they are say 4 or 5. Just get it out of the way. The vast majority will not get the varicella zoster virus again.
First of all chicken pox is not only a child disease. It can affect at any age. Since the activities of children are such that they get the same quickly. There is a belief that once you are affected by chicken pox you are immune to the same in your later life.
