It’s a bit difficult to know how serious the issue is without knowing the age of your son. My daughter had impetigo at 1 yo and it made her go off her food for about a week. I don’t know if it was the impetigo though or the antibotics she was on to get rid of it. It’s not a very nice thing to have, so I can imagine it’ll make your little one feel rough.

I presume you have been to the doctor for antibotics? If so, it took about 7 days for my daughter’s to clear up once she started the antibotics (and she had had it for about a week before I realised what it was) and she had red blothes (but not infected) on her skin for about two months. But she had definately bounced back within a week or so of taking antibiotics.

It sounds to me as though it’s worth taking your son back to the doctor’s just to check that the impetigo is healing correctly. It may be that the antibotics are upsetting his stomach but it probably is worth making sure that he doesn’t need some form of rehydration thearpy.

i think that you should ring nhs direct as if he’s old a baby it can’t be good for him to go with out his bottle for a week he may be dehydrated, perhaps the infection is causing he to feel ill, in this case perhaps giving him a little calprofen (depending on his age) and then he may start feeling a little better

this is very common and dont forget that ur sons mouth will be very sore as long as ur giving him drinks through a syringe there shouldnt be a problem…. try some multi vitamin drops in with his drink so he he still getting the nutrition he needs if he his not eating… or try him with a straw with soups
