No one can answer this – not even the doctors who know all the details of the case which we do not have here. They could make the best guess – - if you push them.

It depends where the malignancy is growing – bones, lungs, liver, brain. Melanomas can metastasize anywhere. Then it depends on the tumor volume and the rate of growth. No two patients like this are ever the same. If her doctors are pushed to make guesses, they will be wrong. We are always wrong when we try to predict the future for any one special person. We can only quote statistics from a group of similar people.

Great answer from the oncologist. She is her own person, not a statistic. Near the end of her life, she will likely not want to eat or drink. I would see this as a signal that death is approaching soon. Be there for her as you have been. She needs to know that she is not alone.

No one can place a specific time frame but I would assume less than a year.
