itch is just a result of elevated bilirubin content in your subcutaneous fat secondary to delayed gastric emptying that basically boils down to the relaxing result of relaxin on your digestive tract, relaxin is a hormone of pregnancy. WBC count and Maternal Temperature is normally elevated during pregnancy as a result of estrogen produced by the growing placenta, so infection should be further confirmed by other tests like a culture, but infection is highly inlikely if you just base it on WBC and temp since estrogen could be the one causing this and not bacteria. an itch wouldnt necessarily mean a bacterial infection. My hypothesis will be subject to correction if a bacterial infection is confirmed,And generally all drugs should be avoided during pregnancy, unless the situation is deemed life threatening and needs the use of the drug. So long as the Physician tells you that the drug molecules will not cross the placental border… it’s practically safe ma’am. But I’ve read that it can be passed via breastfeeding, so this means that you should stop taking the abtibiotics as soon as you breast feed. And never compromise breastfeeding for anthying else. It contains maternal antibodies, is economic and is hypoallergenic, i think you get my point, but here’s some info i took from

Pregnancy Category B
In mice, rats, and rabbits, cetirizine was not teratogenic at oral doses up to 96, 225, and 135 mg/kg, respectively (approximately 40, 180, and 220 times the maximum recommended daily oral dose in adults on a mg/m2 basis). There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, cetirizine HCl should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
Nursing Mothers
In mice, cetirizine caused retarded pup weight gain during lactation at an oral dose in dams of 96 mg/kg (approximately 40 times the maximum recommended daily oral dose in adults on a mg/m2 basis). Studies in beagle dogs indicated that approximately 3% of the dose was excreted in milk. Cetirizine has been reported to be excreted in human breast milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, use of cetirizine HCl in nursing mothers is not recommended.
