By Madam Skin • December 11, 2009 • Filed in: Eczema

Every winter we get eczema around my eyes as well as currently it is generally red as well as irritated. we know which is a supportive area as well as normal creams as well as accepted steroids which we would usually make make use of of have been not great to make make use of of nearby a eyes. Are there any over-the-counter creams or gels we could find to assistance with this? It is troublesome as well as unattractive. Thanks!

I have the same trouble, it’s so bad my eyes puff up like balloons overnight from the irritation. I use Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser for dry/sensitive skin, it really helps, even though people they say you shouldn’t put normal moisturiser around the eye area because it’s too rich, I don’t see what else can be done.

Since it is in your eyes, I can only think of two things to try.

First, make sure your eczema is not caused by food allergies. To see, see a dermatologist. You could cut out various things. Common foods include eggs, wheat, and cow’s milk. If you don’t want to see a dermatologist, start cutting things out of your diet one item at a time and see if your eczema gets better.

Second, have you tried washing your eyelids daily? Wash with cold water and sensitive-skin soap, such as Dove or Aveeno. Make sure to moisturize afterward. If you are very, very careful to not get any in your eyes, you could wash the lids with vinegar. My suggestion is to use q-tips to rub it on and off, one lid at a time by dipping the end in vinegar, rubbing your eyelid, getting the other end, dip it in water, rinse your lid with this, then dry your eyelid.

If those don’t work, you might consider going to your doctor.

Herbal ingredients such as Vitamin E oil, Mentha pipererita oil, Bulbinella frutescens tr. and Aloe ferox tr. work quickly to soothe and promote healthy, trouble free skin. Other highly effective herbs include Glycorrhiza glabra, Melia azadirachta, Sambucus nigra and Stellaria media which help to provide relief from itching and discomfort and reduce eczema patches. In addition, Matricaria chamomilla, Asparathus linearis and Galium aparine also prevents infection and inflammation as well as reduces scarring.
