Bacitracin ointment, or another anti biotic cream. Keep the area clean and dry. If it hurts, use an ointment that has lidocaine in it, it will say pain relief on the box. Have your child take a multi vitamin at least once a day, maybe twice, for a little while. You can try washing the area with a dandruff shampoo, that may help.
Natural Home Remedy and treatment to Cure the Impetigo.
Impetigo is a common, highly infectious skin disease caused by staphylococcus bacteria or more rarely by the streptococcus bacteria.

The use of turnip (salgum) is one such remedy. A few chopped turnip pieces after thorough cleaning should be immersed in rice starch (kangi) or any natural vinegar for about six hours. They should then be eaten by the patient.
Garlic is useful in relieving constant itching caused by this disease. This vegetable should be crushed and spread over irritated areas. One or two cloves of garlic should be chewed for better results. This helps in to the impetigo.
The use of harsh detergent should be avoided clothes should be thoroughly rinsed.
Prognosis of Impetigo
The disease usually lasts for 3 to 4 weeks. In some cases, particularly when it complicates other skin conditions, it may last for months. An average case can be cured in 6 to 10 days leaving behind no scars. Being a contagious disease, it can spread to other parts of the body and to other people.

If you go to the doctor they will prescribe a mild antibiotic cream.

But it is really not necessary.
Impetigo will clear on its own in a few days.

Just try to keep your child from scratching it.
Also, make sure you use different towels. Impetigo is contagious. That is why young children get it and pass.it around day care or school.

Personally, I would let it clear on its own. I don’t like to use antibiotics if it really isn’t necessary.

Either way your child is going to be fine.

Hi,
With impetigos you must stop your child from scratching it, put a plaster or something over it. You can go to the pharmacy and buy an anti-bacterial cream, crystacide is very good for impetigos. If you buy that don’t apply it for more than 3 days in a row because it will form a scab, then just leave the scab to heal.
Also if it is rather inflamed, a couple of drops of Clear eyes (eye drops that clear red eyes) or something similar will bring down the redness and inflamation. I use this on pimples all the time, its great. The eye drops contain an anti-inflamatory.

Hope this helps :)
