Has anyone here ever had Alopecia Areata? Have you recovered fully?
I’ve not long ago been diagnosed with it.

i have it, your a teenage girl right? im 15 and iv had it since i was 2.
i used to have it really bad, and i used to wear a wig and everything "/ then i wore banadanas, then it started to get better,
i used to go to the hospital 3 times a week, when i was about 10. and they put ointment on my patches and then i sat in a tanning machine thing for 5 mins and after about 6 months of this my hair started to grow back more and more. then they stopped it cos i got too old "/ and just gave me some ointment instead.
then i reached year 7, about 12 i think and my hair had almost all grown back appart form a few odd patches here and there, then when i got to 14, it got worse again, i had loads of tiny patches dotted all around my head, and we kept going to the hospital and getting more ointment but it didnt seem to work, then i read on a website that zinc tablets helped a little girl to get better so i bought some of them, from boots and my hair started to get better,
i dont know if it was the tablets or what, but it just started to get better and was growing loads each week. mum said i was proberly just going through a stage where it got worse but i dont know. i hope this helps, i havent fully recovered but i only have 2 obvious patches now
