I’m a statistician and about 15 years ago, I worked in a mammography quality control research project. I heard then that the radiologists want to biopsy three times more benign growths than malignant ones. That is because the consequences of doing more biopsies are insignificant, but the consequences of missing a cancer can be catastrophic.

Most likely, your biopsy will come back negative for cancer.

The vast majority of biopsies come back benign. And if that is the case, you have nothing to worry about. Could be you drink too much coffee.

I have.My lump was calcification, which is common, but they want to check it out, just to be safe. I was worried, too.Actually MOST biopsies turn out to be benign.Early stage breast cancer is painless, as most cancers are.I’m glad you got a mammogram. It is important.

I had a biopsy when I was younger and it turned out benign. I think from memory, the doctor just said it was a fibroid (like fibrous tissue I think). I had it removed as it was about the size of a grape and I didn’t like it. I have a small scar under my breast now – but it’s all fine. Good luck. I hope its nothing!
