Yes I’ve used something similar before. I can’t remember if it was the same kind- I think it was a cream, not a gel, but I remember it was 0.05%. I had a minor rash on my arm- it worked like within a day or two. If tomorrow the rash hasn’t improved at all, you might need a different type of gel or oral medication so call your doc.

i have a steroid cream i use right around my hairline and sometimes on my chest for seborrheic dermatitis. it usually works with one or two applications (once a day for a couple days).

I’m on TRIAMCINOLON 0.1% for my atopic eczema. I put it on at night and I stop being so itchy the next day. Then, after 3-5 successive nights of use the areas are healed.

Keep with it! Alot of people (including me in the past) stop using steroid creams if they think it’s not working. You need to give it time.

Extra Tip: keep the gel away from your eyes – if the doctor didn’t tell you already. It can lead to blindness.

Topical steroids work well to eliminate topical skin problems like eczema, but they generally only relieve symptoms like itching when used on skin conditions that are caused by systemic problems. I have used both prescription and over-the-counter steroid creams for recurrent eczema and it works pretty quickly – major improvements in just 2 days, and another week or little more to clear it up entirely.

I doubt that it will do anything more than temporarily relieve the rash if it is caused by an allergy affecting your whole body. It might make the rash disappear, and stay that way until you stop using the gel, but if the allergy is still present, the rash will probably return once you stop using the gel.
