You can get shingles anywhere on your body where there are nerve endings, so it is possible to have it on your upper arm. I am pretty sure your doctor will give you a blood test to rule out any other illness.

my Dr looked at the bumps and told me i had shingles. my bumps were on my backside. i don't know if you have shingles or not. have your Dr check you.if you do you will have to take medication to get rid of them. or the bumps/rash will keep spreading over your body.
yes I had them on my upper right arm. I had a spot on my forearm, a couple spots on my right bicep and on my shoulder and then another on around on my shoulder blade. Be cautious if it gets on your face though. Getting it into your eye is bad.
Ask your doctor if the rash is in a "dermatomal" distribution. A painful rash in a dermatomal distibution is shingles.
